Death Knights –The World of Warcraft’s true heroes

The class of Death Knights is the latest available class in WoW. This class was brought to us by ‘Wrath of the Lich King’ expansion released in 2008. In the World of Warcraft, the DKs were introduced as a “Hero” class. However, this doesn’t mean that the DK class is stronger compared to any other class.

Interesting things when it comes to DKs is they attack system which is not based on mana, rage or energy but it is based on runic power. They have two runes with a cooldown at their disposal for any attack and spell. The Runes are divided in three sets of two Blood, Frost and Unholy Runes. The talent trees have the same names as these mentioned runes.

A DK is a plate wearer, can deal a significant amount of melee damage and can also cast several spells from afar.  The Death Knight class can play both a tank and a good melee dps role in any dungeon group and raid. They can wield one-handed and two-handed weapons but cannot equip a shield.

If you want to create a DK you will need to have another level 70 char in possession. You will start leveling a DK at level 55 which will make your journey a lot easier. Another nice thing is that your DK will start with bags, some money and green gear.

Your journey will start in The Ebon Hold in the Eastern Plaguelands. At first you will be fighting together with the forces of the Lich King. You will be taking direct orders from the Lich King himself during the quest chains that you should complete in the areas around the Ebon Hold. As rewards for the quests that you complete there you will receive nice blue items and talent points. Since your char starts on the level 55 you won’t have some talent points, however, you will be able to earn those points back by doing quests.

At the level 58 the quest chain you were on will change its course. You will be able to escape from the Lich King’s command and you will join his enemies to fight by their side. At this level you can go anywhere you want and continue your leveling, however the best choice for fast leveling will be the Outlands area. You will enter the Outlands with all your talent points, full blue gear and with a nice piece of lore behind you.

As any other character, a Death Knight should also choose two primary professions. You can of course choose any profession but there are several professions that fit a Death Knight well. When it comes to most of the characters, Enchanting is a nice and useful profession to have because you will be able to enchant your rings. Since ring enchants are only available for the Enchanter himself it is nice for any character. Jewelcrafting, which is best combined with Mining for cheap leveling purposes, is nice because a Jewelcrafter can make better gems for own use. Because a lot of gear has sockets at later levels this is a nice profession. You can also make different kinds of Jewelry with it like necklaces, rings and trinkets. Blacksmithing could also be a good option for your DK because you will be able to craft plate gear which you can actually wear. Best accompanied by the Mining profession, you can also use Blacksmithing to make sockets in your gloves and wrists.

The DK class is very fun to play. A Death Knight class has no down points. This happened simply because this class is very easy to level up since you start at level 55.
